Acer Liquid Glow

Had the phone for about 3 weeks now and impressed...for the pricepoint this is a very stylish and well built phone. I'm not a heavy gamer (Bad Piggies is all I've used on the phone), but use Opera, my corporate mail client, google maps etc and all perform well...no noticable lag at all Don't really use it to play music, so can't comment, but call quality is fine and when bluetoothed to my car people have remarked it cuts out much more background noice than my previous phone. Battery life is about 24hours with WiFi constantly on and occasional calls.....but with WiFi only occasionally on (i.e. only when using it!) it is about 80hrs...so reasonable The additional UK charger supplied is fine...just connect the USB cable in...added benefit is you get an EU USB plug also for when you travel!

Perfect handset

I've ordered 4 of these now and really impressed with the handset. It's extremely responsive and handles ICS with ease. It should be noted this is a very vanilla build and works great. Ideal for first time users, the purchases have been for older family members but its a cracking device and really impressed with it.

Perfect

Okay perplexed as I have already done a review of this phone and posted it but Expansys seem to of removed it... Anyway the handset runs a very vanilla stock build of Android 4.0.4, surprisingly the phone seems extremely agile while manipulating the 5 home screens (this number cannot be changed). The screen is surprisingly sharp with text easy to read and colours looking vivid. Comparing this to the Liquid MT shows that Acer have taken a dramatic step forward in providing a more standard Android experience which really benefits the user, applications launch quickly (the camera is ready to shoot in 3 seconds, not Sony Xperia fast but for a budget phone is great) and run the latest versions of Youtube etc... allow you to download subscription videos to your device. Backing up for a second and talking about the camera, this phone shines in outdoor conditions, images are sharp and crisp and look great with objects well focused and not made soft or blurred. Being Android 4.0.4 and having NFC means the handset supports beam functions for video playback and sending of websites and generic information (4.0.4 does not support image sending). I've managed to send bits and pieces between my Nexus 7 and LG Optimus 4x with ease and the Glow responds to them both. The notification bar is standard Android so do not expect any power tools to toggle wifi data and bluetooth, these have to be managed by a widget unfortunately. The build of the device is great as well a real step up in what you would expect of the budget phone, the black model comes with a soft textured back and the white a more polished cover and not as tactile but the phone still sits well in the hand. Downsides are the lack of phone storage 1GB which is shared with the OS means that only 500MB is usable, luckily you can use an SD card (4GB comes in the box, but it supports up to 32GB and an external SD card is essential as the camera will not work along with the gallery). One point to note, the gallery has been tweaked slightly, it allows the user to download offline albums to the memory card. On the whole this is a great device and I have already purchased 3 of these and plan to order another 2 for my family. It's not going to be for those high end demanding users, but for those who like to take a few pictures, do some social bits and pieces and play the odd game this really is a stunning device and runs like a dream with Android 4.0.4 with no sign of any lag.
