OQO model e2 UMPC launch

I was lucky enough to be invited down to the launch of the new OQO model e2 UMPC on Monday in London and after hearing what the device has to offer I believe its going to be a very popular device!

Following on from the initial success of the original OQO model 01 and model 01+ was always going to be tricky but there was definite room for improvement in a number of areas.  It seems to me though that OQO have managed to pull it off without a problem.

So what is so good about the new model?  Well, for a start there is the increased processor speed, up to 1.6GHz using a VIA chip and also a generous 1GB of RAM, this allows you to run Microsoft Windows Vista with ease, although Windows XP is also available on select models.  Then there is the screen, it is quite simply the best available on a UMPC at the moment, bar none.  Its crisp, it’s bright and is perfectly readable under direct sunlight, the same goes for the keyboard which also has a built in light sensor to save wasting the battery.

The new OQO model e2 is available now in a range of specifications here.
