Active Sync with another PC

Posted: 18:13 31 Mar 08 #1

Hi - Can the HTC Shift Active Sync via USB with another PC? I want me work desktop to sync with my HTC Shift via usb cable. I've plugged in a USB cable to from my Desktop into the mini USB of the HTC USB Hub. But it does not detect the desktop or the desktop detect the Shift.

Can anybody help?

I am pretty certain this isn't possible as the Snapvue side doesn't really see the physical USB ports even with the xda-developers utility.

You could create a PST file on the work pc with rules to copy over the sync content (contacts, calendar etc) then use something like a shared folder with Synctoy (or one of many other such utilities) to copy/sync the PST onto the Shift - assuming you are allowed to plug your Shift into the corporate LAN. You can then use this either in your normal Shift Outlook profile or create a seperate profile which is used purely for Activesync to the Snapvue side.

Hi Dawsonas -

Thanks for the reply. I'm admit I'm a little disappointed. I had hoped that Snapvue would sync with my work pc? May be the xda-developers will sort something out? I will google synctoy and see if I can sort something out.

 Thanks again for the reply.

Cheers - Dave

Dave,

No problem.  Synctoy is availble from the Microsoft Download Centre and is free. I use it just because its relatively simple but there are others such as Foldersync which is also free.
