Internet and MMS settings for O2 Ireland

Posted: 19:40 23 Apr 08 #1

Hi there, I've seen a few posts with various people asking for settings for the lg viewty but mostly on vodafone.  Does anybody have any setting particularly internet and mms settings for the lg viewty on the O2 Ireland network.  Tried all the various options i/e O2 themself, LG website and so on.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks

Mark

Try these mate:

O2 have changed their connection settings ( old ones still work, but all new devices going forward will have the new ones preset )

The following are the 2 Profiles, same for prepay & postpay. O2 Ireland is the standard GPRS/Internet Profile, the O2 MMS is for the MMS settings only.

WAP2.0
Profile Name: O2 Ireland
Homepage: http://www.o2.ie
Proxy: 62.40.32.40
Port: 8080
APN: internet
Bearer: GPRS

MMS
Profile Name: O2 MMS
Homepage: http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002
Proxy: 62.40.32.40
APN: internet
Bearer: GPRS

Open Internet
Profile Name: Internet
APN: internet

Email Client
SMTP: 62.40.32.37
POP3 Server: 62.40.32.37
Proxy: 62.40.32.40:8080
APN: internet

usernames and passwords not required for any profiles (some legacy devices / systems may require a username and password to create a connection profile... try gprs for both in this case)

Also, to use a phone as a modem you can set the APN manually via device manager on your PC / Device.

Extra Initialisation Strings:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet" (if hardware error results, then remove. AT at begining may not be required on some devices)

number: *99#
user/pass: not required

Cool mate.... Pleased to see you got it sorted.  I am sure you can get the MMS working with a bit of tampering if your WAP is up your not far off....

Glad to help.

Hi Tia

Unfortunately the mms settings didn't work properly just yet, I've been out of the country for the past few weeks so haven't really fully tried to mess around with the settings just yet, but I'm sure they will work as the internet settings work a treat so I'd say the mms will also once I have a proper look around at it, I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

Hi Steve, you look like a knowledgeable person on the Viewty.  I've had all sorts of problem on the Viewty - not very user friendly to set up.  My last problem is sending an email from Viewty's own messaging app.  Have you had success in sending an email out?  It seems to sit in my Outbox "waiting" for a while then fails.  I've used the same settings on a Nokia and I have no problems sending (or receiving).

I'm not quite sure if I should switch the Advanced settings on when they already look ok to me - SMTP port 25, Incoming server port 110.  There are SMTP authentication fields - which I haven't needed to use on other devices.

 Thanks, Carolinee
