When Expansys get their hands on the demo version can you confirm once and for all if the X1 will support "Line 2" just like all other SE buisiness phones? In other parts of the world it is called 'Alternate Line Service' and Windows Mobile does not natively support it. Cannot image why SE would produce a so called buisiness phone without it but there is no accounting for taste. If it is not supported I'll have to cancel my pre-order as I couldn't live without it. |

Thanks Andy, Initial reviews from a few months ago suggest it does not support Line 2 but I'm hoping the release version will. Graeme |

Hi gtsmith, sorry for the late reply but i did eventually get this answer from Sony Ericsson;
"Checking from HTC and other sources, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional basically supports ALS. However, there are a lot of cases where operators put their own customization to the GSM standard based ALS feature, it's hard to tell that the ALS is fully supported without knowing which operator it will work from. I'm currently checking with HTC whether the ALS support X1 has is fully compliant to GSM standard without any operator customization. I'll update you when I get the answer. Hope you can check with the customer (it seems that eXpansys is UK based company) whether they have any specific operator or region in mind."
We will be getting the SIM free version with no operator customization so i'll update this thread when i get a better answer from them. |

Thanks Andy That is very good news. I've pre-ordered the SIM free version from you already and will be using it on Orange (the only UK operator I know of that supports ALS/LINE2). I haven't had a problem with Oranges implementation of ALS on any other Sony Ericsson SIM free phone so fingers crossed. Graeme |

Hi, I also use Line 2/ALS on Orange. Any update on if ALS is supported? (or when you expect delivery of the first handsets to test it?)
Thanks, Al |

Turned up about an hour ago. Line 2 does indeed work with Orange. Haven't had time to play with the rest of it yet. Still trying to rearange my Outlook folders so I can have my Mobile contacts sync - haven't used a Pocket PC for a while. |
