I have the X10 Mini Xperia, only had it 3 days. Turned it on today and there is a symbol
on the status bar at the top of the screen on the right hand side and I have no idea what it is.
Its two arrows, one pointing up and the other pointing down, with the letter 'E' above them. This 'E' also changes to a 'G' sometimes.

Does anyone know what this symbol is???

The user manual has a list of all the symbols that appear in the notification area.

With this phone the majority of the manual information is actually on the phone in the 'User Guide' and I cannot find this symbol

It's your data connection, E = Edge G = GPRS H = HSDPA.

I've got another unknown symbol (X10 mini), and yes I have just looked in the pdf user guide

It is a diamond shape (or a square turned 45degrees) , or maybe its a pic of a tv set with a couple of control knobs  turned 45degrees

it lies just to the left of the signal strength and just to the right of the wifi signal strength

It didnt used to be there and now it is

Thanks   Steve

If you swipe the top bar downwards, does it show you anything in there that looks similar?

Failing that, any chance you can get a pic of it and upload somewhere so I can see it?

You can't - you'd need to upload it to a public flikr account or something like that .
