Hello All,

I have a 2 meg connection with Freedom2surf, which currently appears to be running at 8 Meg (I live next door to the Exchange) Anyway, that's not the problem. At the moment I have set the modem (DSL 300T) up as directed by the ISP.

PPPOA
Encapsulation: VC
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

All the settings are right! The Router (DI 624+) is set in Dynamic IP mode..... it all works fine, at least for a bit of time.

The problem is that after an undetermined length the internet will die, and if I try to connect nothing will work until I reset the Modem and re-enter the ADSL account settings. When the internet "dies" I can't even connect to the Modem via Internet Explorer on 192.168.1.1 all I can connect to is the router, on 192.168.0.1

If I use any other settings (Like Bridge for example) I can't connect to the internet at all.

Does anyone have any ideas?

John

hi, i had the same problem with this pair (300T modem + 624 WiFi router). Although all settings were correct after sometime modem was not able to respond and transmit data. After playing with configuration for almost two days i figured out that changing two settings seemed to solve the problem. Firstly I turned off SET ROUTE option (in Settings->Connection-PPP Settings) which was on by default. This solved the problem with the default route : "ioctl(SIOCADDRT): Network is unreachable(128)". Than I turned off firewall on 300T (telnet 192.168.1.1 with login/password: root/your_password; cd etc; ./firewall_stop). From that time I had no problems with this modem. I know that firewall should not be responsibile for disconnections but somehow it helped. I still have firewall on my router. The other problem though is that the dsl624+ from time to time disconnects my intel220PRO/wireless card. And I cant figure where is the problem. Sometime the speed goes down below 54Mb and just after a while goes back to 54. Strange and annoying. Everything looks fine till the time i realise my IM got disconnected. I press 'reconnect' and i am back online.

Hmmm, having some problems with the Telnet part! I run a cmd prompt, then type telnet 192.168.1.1 It asks me for login and pass, which I enter (Login: admin Pass: admin) and it says login failed! Can I not disable the firewall via the web interface? On internet explorer?

Hi,
try root as the uid instead but with your normal admin password - this worked for me.

**JOHN: in the telnet box you should type 'root' as login instead of 'admin' and than your password as password ;)

BTW. There is still something wrong with my modem or/and router. There are days that it works really fine and sometimes i have 10 deaths per hour. It really is annoying. I am gonna sell it and buy something diffrent since i cant really figure what is wrong with it. This time i'll buy all-in-one box. Maybe from Linksys?

Hi,
I had similar issues and found that by doing the following my dropouts came to a stop - only problem though, I cant use VPN (may or may not be an issue with you)
Goto 192.168.0.1
Tools
Misc
Disable , UPNP, Gaming, VPN PPTP and IPSec
Restart Router

Good luck!
