I've my Mio A701, and would like to setup the GPRS connection.

I'm with vodafone pay as you go, I've been trying to make a new connection, set a current connection! but nothing seems to work at all.

I've tried this:

Vodafone GPRS settings (WAP):

Homepage: http://wap:1999/vodafone.wml
APN address: wap.vodafone.co.uk (Contract)
APN address: wap.vodafone.co.uk (PAYG)
Gateway (IP) address: 212.183.137.12
Username: wap
Password: wap
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
Port number: 8799

I dont know how to setup it correctly with this nice Mio A701.

Any help?

If anyone have been able to connect to GPRS with vodafone... please do tell me how?

When I ever try connect to GPRS, I get this message:

Cannot connect for an unknown reason.
To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. if the problem continues,
reset your mobile device according to your manufacture's documentation and try again.

Hi,

you probably should be using the Web GPRS settings:
For CONTRACT:
- APN: internet (lowercase)
- User: web (lowercase)
- Pwd: web (lowercase)

For PAY AS YOU TALK
- APN: pp.vodafone.co.uk(lowercase)
- User: web (lowercase)
- Pwd: web (lowercase)

leave anything else blank!

Email SMTP server: smtp.vizzavi.co.uk
Alt email SMTP server: mail.vodafone.net
Alt email SMTP server: send.vodafone.net
Alt email SMTP server: 212.183.156.229
Alt email SMTP server: 62.213.128.92
DNS Server: 212.183.137.012

Have you got GPRS enabled? You may have to phone Vodafone and ask them to enable it.

Cheers,
Pete.

Pete,

Thanks for you reply,

I've checked your settings, thanks for that, but it is not working! still getting above error.

I've called with the vodafone customer care, and informed me there is no need to have gprs activated on my account.

and gave the following connection settings:

Cannot connect for an unknown reason.
to check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings. if the problem continues,
reset your mobile device according to your manufacture's documentation and try again.

If they've given you a dial up number then you aren't using GPRS for connections to the internet. That seems like a bit of a cop out. Still if it's working for you then that's good news. Just watch your phone bills/credit usage for a while to see how it works out for you that way.

Try the GPRS configuration tool in the settings, it worked for me.

Has anyone managed to send/recieve an MMS? I''ve not been able to do this since getting the phone. If anyone knows how to set up MMS please post it.

Thanks.
