Hi peeps,
Just bought the SE W810i of a mate who had it with 02 contract. I put an 02 pay and go sim card in it and it worked fine for about a week. Then when i put it in my pocket the keypad wasn't locked and it has changed/deleted some of the settings. Now it just says Inactive SIM on the screen rather than 02-UK. Does anyone know what has happened to the phone, or what cna i do. The phone will not make calls, receive calls and i cannot select a network from the mobile connectivity file. Please help any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

sounds like its been blocked/reported lost/stolen tbh. I'd go ask your mate, I don't think its the phones fault. Have you tried another sim card?

I would try another SIM card first. If it doesn't work, it means he's reported it stolen/lost and they have blocked the phone via the IMEI number. It's the most common thing on contract phones. People tend to sell them on then claim them as lost/stolen to get a new handset but some don't know they cancel the old handset (some do know and they just dont care :/)

So if i took it into an 02 shop or a sony ericsson shop do you think they could unblock the phone for me or would they just take it off me. Cos i paid a bit of money for it and i dont want them to just take it off of me. If i was to try and get it unblocked so it would work with any sim card would that bypass the IMEI block. Thanks for your help

as far as i know, when it's blocked, it's blocked. Whole purpose of blockign a stolen phone is so it can't be used again unless it's unblocked by the original owner (i.e your mate). If he's reported it stolen/lost, they will probably conviscate it and worst case scenario you could end up in a bit of bother with the police although i doubt it'd come to that. Aslong as your mate isn't trying to make any dodgy deals. Just ask your mate if he has or hasn't repoted it lost/stolen. If he has, get him to phone his provider who he has a contract with to unblock it or get your cash back, if not tell him its bust, you want your money back :)

Chances are he's probably ported his number off the simcard to another network, when you port your number to another network your original sim becomes defunct. A new sim card normally does the trick

It is illegal to even attempt to unblock your phone. Only the network providers are allowed to do this.
