 how do i get the netgear media server to pick up my external hard drive? having problems setting up connections using a belkin wireless g router

 I have an iomega 160GB external connected and the media server sees it just fine. Is it connected to the same physical machine that the media server runs on? I think that is the only requirement. I don''t believe you can play music off an external hard drive located somewhere else on your network.
