Out of curiosity, should you do the 3.0.1 firmware upgrade prior to the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade.

Or does the WM6 upgrade supercede the 3.0.1 firmware?

This doesnt seem to work for me - the phone wont turn on when pressing the dot and power key. It will boot normally though. I notice the filesa are named different when compared to the accompanying word doc.

Anybody else got any mileage on this update?

Melsey - I am having the same problem you are. When I press the power and dot key it does nothing.

 I'm waiting for a response too.

Dear Matt and others,

try to use a _small_ (as in capacity) miniSD card to perform the upgrade. I made a 64mb part out of mine (2GB no-name card) and everything went smooth and fine.

I'm now going to recover my backup :)

Hi DAniele - thanks for the advice - followed the procedure and created a 64mb card. After trying countless times I once got the green and red bars then it turned off. Since then I have had no success getting to the next stage (blue bars) - or back to the green and red bar screen.

 Anybody else solve it this way. I have a feeling I was nearer with this method.

 Suggest people think carefully about bothering to attempt this upgrade - I see from older posts that this is a regular problem!

No wifi after WM6 upgrade?????

After the upgrade I was not able to use wifi...any other in the same situation?

Using a 64 MB Partition I am unable to get this upgraded.

I can never get the power & dot button to work simultaneously... my screen never does anything.

I called mobileplanet.com and they said that this forum was their "support". So far, I only see standard users responding.

Any word... from the support?

It is my understanding that the Terminal Services client is now an optional component of Windows Mobile 6, could you tell us if this update contains the Terminal Service client. Also, does the Mini SD slot support the 4GB Mini SD card?

You must NOT use a SanDisk card it will NOT work (tried different SanDisks -all failed)

I used Carephone Warehouse own brand and it worked fine

Thanks Matt. I stopped at two different stores last night looking for a MiniSD card and neither had one.

Guess i'll head out at lunch to look at some other stores. I ordered my 2 GB SanDisk card online... so hopefully i can find one at BestBuy or Circuit City.

 I wonder why SanDisk cards do not work... strange considering that they are one of the leading brands in memory cards.

Im in the UK and struggled to get a non SanDisk card in the shops - easier online I suppose, the interesting thing is that the carphone warehouse card i now have has less size by a few MB than the SanDisk despite both being 1GB - dont know if there is something in that.

Anyway can give my thumb a rest from all that power button pushing now.

WOW! After going to three stores I finally found a non-SanDisk branded MiniSD card.

I bought a Toshiba branded card and amazingly enough... the upgraded WORKED on the very first try.

No problems at all...

I know what you mean about the soar thumb... mine has an indentation in it from the power button.

What a hassle that was, but i'm happy to be upgraded now. So let's see if the performance is any better?

I'm just repeating what I wrote on the thread at MoDaCo.

"Okay, I have done the upgrade and I must say that I am impressed. Everything went smoothly apart from a slight glitch when the phone refused to reboot after completing the flash, but I just repeated the flashing process and it seemed to work second time round.

Windows Mobile 6 is no faster than Windows Mobile 5, but beings with it several benefits which I can see. The calendar for instance has that useful ribbon at the top. HTML email is great too. I am sure there will be other things which I will discover as I play with it!

All the hardware works well: WiFi, keyboard, camera.

The biggest news is that TCPMP now seems to work fine!

I also wanted to add that the battery life does not seem to have taken any hit and the phone seems to be more responsive than before.

Could someone take a look at the installed applications on their upgraded device, and tell me if the Remote Desktop client is installed?
