Excellent Car Dongle
This is a great car Wi-Fi dongle. The ability to autostart when the power is applied is just perfect. The config interface is much better on this device than on any other Huawei device.

Flexible internet access
Mobile broadband is convenient when on the move, if not near a hot spot. However most 3G broadband dongles only connect to USB ports which means iPod Touch or Android pads without sim cards cannot utilise the signal. Moreover, most dongles are locked to the network which sold them. The Huawei E355 is also a USB dongle, but also broadcasts its own wi-fi, in other words it's like having your own mobile hot spot. Moreover it is not confined to any one network. As a bonus, a micro SD can be inserted to turn it into a flash drive. Installation in Windows xP was simple plug and play. In my case the network drivers are pre-existing from previous dongles, so I cannot say whether network drivers are needed on top.
