Motorola Milestone XT720 Android Smartphone Features

The Motorola XT720 is unashamedly a media phone. Running Google's Android, Motorola have taken a 8 mega-pixel camera and paired it with a Xenon flash (like proper digital camera's), which means it can take amazing photo's in poor light conditions. Add in HD video recording and top if off with a HDMI port, which lets you connect the XT720 directly to your HD TV.

  • 8 mega-pixel camera & Xenon flash work really well
  • Captures great quality HD video
  • Built like a tank, feels really well made

  • Small built in storage
  • Not a small phone
  • Xenon flash can drain the battery quickly

press reviews:

Electricpig: The Motorola Milestone XT720 isn’t without is design quirks. The build is rock solid, however, as is the phone’s use of vanilla Android, not to mention its ace take on imaging. If you want an Android phone without the fancy social networking skin favoured by HTC, then this is the phone you’ve been waiting for.

CNET: We like the design, the amazing camera, and if those are the things you're particularly looking for in a smart phone, we can't imagine you'll be disappointed with the XT720.

Brilliant Phone:Surpassing its sibling, it’s certainly a good-looking phone that’s enjoyable to use, and has all the benefits of Android’s slick system and huge apps market. That corner bulge takes getting used to and if you don't mind the processor being less powered than rivals, this is a slim, efficient smartphone with excellent camera credentials.

Superb phone (only the camera lets it down)

Still photos aren't brilliant, but just about everything else is. Very fast moving between apps, the online upgrades for Android have worked really smoothly, brilliant hi res screen, only recently bettered by Iphone 4 (show a friend the satellite maps and watch their jaws drop), really fast web access. I really like the physical keyboard, but others think it is not a good example. You can feel the build quality in your hand. Supremely tough (gorilla glass?) screen, but does smudge. Even now, a very, very good phone.

Be paitient!

I nearly sent this phone back due to a VERY short battery life (aprox. 15hrs) BUT after taking advice from the helpful staff in the returns dept, I kept it and I'm very glad I did. I was advised to download an "App Killer" from the Market and allow for the battery to get "conditioned". After trying many different options I finally settled on "Task Maager" but you might prefer one of the many others out there. I've since found another App called "Juice Defender" with together with everything mentioned now produces a respectable (for a smart-phone) battery life. Everything else on the phone is great, once you get used to Andriod (I was coming from Windows Mobile). The camera is outstanding. Finally a spart-phone camera you can use after dark! Don't be put off by the low clock speed, it never really feels slow as long as the Task Manager is doing its job, but with 2.2 (hopefully) arriving at the end of the year it can only get better!
