eXpansys VoIP - What does it cost?
eXpansys brings together the well-known savings of VoIP (low-cost calls) with the ease of using your own mobile phone. There are no monthly charges or fees to pay.
Mobile calls
eXpansys VoIP users can call landlines in every other country at characteristically-cheap VoIP rates from their mobile (e.g. USA 2p/min or 5c/min, Spain 3p/6c, Australia 3p/5c).
Call most other UK mobiles at a flat 18p/min or 36c/min (any time) and many international mobiles for less than 24p/min or 49c/min (e.g. Australia mobiles 15p/min or 31c/min, China mobiles 3p/5c, Taiwan mobiles 10p/20c).
Text messages / SMS are being charged at a flat rate of 6p/12c per message.

eXpansys VoIP SMS
SMS over IP is a breakthrough technology developed by Truphone (eXpansys VoIP is 'Powered by Truphone'), but it is still in beta. Do not rely on SMS over IP for important messages.
Please note that eXpansys VoIP users can only send text messages at this time – it is not possible to receive SMS using the eXpansys VoIP service.
eXpansys VoIP over 3G
eXpansys VoIP now works over 3G. This means VoIP calls from many more places.
Fantastic if you've got a generous (or 'all-you-can-eat') data tariff, but do note that cost, quality and availability of 3G services vary enormously. While it is possible to talk for free walking down the street, it is also possible to run up a huge bill this way. Be sure to check both that your operator allows this and what your tariff is - especially when you're roaming overseas. It is great though.
Please note that this is in beta. Not all 3G networks were created equal or are quite ready for VoIP. However if you want to try out eXpansys VoIP over 3G - now you can!
Additional Costs for ‘The Cloud’
Your use of The Cloud service on a pay as you go basis provides You access to a Partner Access Point for using the eXpansys Service only. When registered at The Cloud hotspots you will be charged a fee of 3p per minute for making or receiving a call, in addition to your regular call charges. For more information on The Cloud and the available access points please see www.thecloud.net.
Sales tax
VAT at 17.5% is included in all chargeable calls. This is reflected at the point of topping up and is the same regardless of currency or country. A £5.00 top-up thus consists of £4.26 + VAT.
